God Father 30 @ Tomah Sparta Speedway

The God Father 30 @ Tomah Sparta Speedway First and foremost, thank you to the Brockhouse family for helping keep HobyFest and the God Father going. Now what a day. The weather was cool, the sun was in and out of the clouds, the day was far from perfect, but it was perfect for racing. The new owners made some changes to the track and is now a little shorter. Turns 3 & 4 were paved and moved in from where the old, old track was. So we all knew the track was going to be faster. And it sure was. In qualifying, It was Mark Dewey taking home quick time and the new track record. But it was Tim Anderson in 2nd just 0.001 behind mark. WOW that was close. In 3rd, it was Ashley Bell, followed by Justing Schelitzche, and Phil Malouf in 5th. They all was followed by Anna Malouf, Shawn Grabinger, Brandon Olson, and Jacob Iverson In heat 1 we had Jacob and Brandon lead the group to the green flag. But it was Anna getting to the front to cross the line first. She was followed by Phil, Shawn, Jacob, and Brandon. In heat 2, it was Justin and Ashley leading the fast pack to the green flag. Justin took the early lead and making sure he got some distance for the fast charger Mark. It was Justin taking home the win following him was Mark, Ashley, and Tim. Feature time. We knew this was going to be a great race overall. With the most cars so close in times, it was anyone’s race. Shawn and Jacob lead everyone to the green flag with Shawn taking the early lead. That was short lived when being challenged by Justing and Anna. After many good hard laps, it was Justin in the lead while trying to get away from the rest of the pack battling it out behind him. An issue happened to Shawn’s car almost bringing out the caution, But everyone’s reaction to avoid him was able to keep the race green. It was Justin, Ashley, and Mark trying to make the charge. Mark and Ashley had a great battle making it just that much easier for Justin, But Mark got past Ashely and started working on Anna for 2nd. Half way through the race everyone still making their moves trying to get what they could and Mark starts chasing down the leader. Next thing you know, the battle was on.  But it was Justin pushing a little to hard as he went up the track, Mark made his move to the inside and finally clearing him to take over the lead. All while Ashley doing everything she can to catch the front. Working hard and pushing it harder. In the end it was Mark Dewey taking home his first every MidWest Dash Feature win. He was followed by Justin, Ashley, Phil, and Tim in 5th. He was followed by Anna, Brandon, Jacob and then Shawn. It was a great night for racing.
