What a weekend it was. We had 30+ cars that showed up. After a bit, we had 29 cars. Few of them had issues and was not able to compete. It happens. Lots of cars taking their shot to give the 5/8’s mile track a chance. And it was a show from start to finish.
In qualifying, it was Karter Stark taking home quick time. He was followed by Tim Anderson, Phil Malouf, George Sparkman, and Anna Malouf in 5th. Then it was Mark Dewey in 6th. He was followed by Mark English, Joe Kuehn, Josh Rusch, and Cameron Kemnetz in 10th. Then in 11th on back it was Shawn Grabinger, Kamren Hill, Justin Schelizche, Travis Hill and Andrew Rhone in 15th. 16th on back was Al Strobel, Taylor Dawson, Shane Kohlmiere, Ashley Bell, Steve Dickson, Noah Pankow, Kristopher Berg, Pat Dickman, Tom Lecher, Brandon Vines, Talon Fielitz, Zakary Chanda, Jacob Iverson, and Justin Iverson.
Man that’s a lot of drivers. And top 8 was locked into the feature. The first 2 heat races were for starting positions from there on back.
In heat 1, it was Ashley and Taylor leading the group to the green flag. With Shasley taking the early lead. But Rusch trying to make quick work and getting to the front in a hurry and taking over the lead as Ashley has issues. Schelizche makes his way to 2nd to try and gain on Rusch, but was not able to. Rhone was able to make his way to Dawson and they had a great battle. But it was Rusch taking home the win. He was followed by Schelizche, Rhone, Dawson, and Grabinger in 5th. They were followed by Vives, Pankow, Chanda, Dickman, Iverson, and Bell.
Heat 2, it was Dickson and Strobel leading the group to the green flag. But in turn 1 there was a issue that almost turned bad for many drivers. But everyone was able to continue and that also gave us a new leader. Kohlmeier takes the lead with Travis in 2nd. But as they all get their bearings back in order, the race was on.Dickson and Stobel get back to 2nd and 3rd while everyone else is trying to chase them down. But it was Kemnetz getting through the field looking to make a bit for the lead. When the checker flag flew, it was Kohlmeier taking home the win. He was followed by, Kemnetz, Kamren, Strobel, and Dickson in 5th. They all were followed by Travis, Iverson, Lecher, Berg, and Fielitz in 10th.
Now it was the top 8 to battle it out. Kuehn and English leads them to the green flag with English taking the early lead. But Anna was right there doing what she could till Stark made his way up to the front. Lots of moving around early in the race. Stark makes his way past English. All while Phil making a pass for 3rd. And in the end, it was Stark taking home the Fast Dash Heat. He was followed by English, Phil, Dewey, and Anna in 5th. Then it was Kuehn, and Sparkman. Anderson having issues and not able to start.
This was going to be a great feature. That many cars. Lots of track. It was Kuehn and English leading everyone to the green. But an issue happened and brought everyone back to Yellow. 2nd try, The same 2 leading everyone to the green and an issues with the leaders. That ended Kuehn’s night. So it was the Dewey on the inside and English on the outside bringing out the green flag. It was English taking the early lead with Dewey falling back. But it was Phil and Anna making their way to English fast. Stark making hi way to 4th by lap 2. As the race continued, lots of cars moving around and a few dropping off. After a bit, it was Stark and Anna battling it for the lead. But Stark took it over at lap14. Anna did not let it go, she put up a fight all the way to the end. Stark takes home the OktoberFest win with Anna right behind him. She was followed by Phil, Dewey, English in 5th. 6th on back was Schelitzche, Kemnetz, Karmen, Grabinger, and Strobel in 10. 11 on back was Dawson, Dickson, Chanda, Jacob, Fielitz, Justin, Bell, Rusch, Kohlmeier, Sparkman, Rhone, Pankow, Berg, Tavis, Dickman, Kuehn, Anderson, Vines, and Lecher.
Over all it was a great experience for everyone all around. Many people got to experience what it’s like to run the 5/8’s mile. Great track, great times. Lots of laughing and sharing stories. Lots of battles.
Now its time to get the cars ready for 1 last race of the year. Dells Raceway Park for the Falloween Special. Just like every class there, this is where we will crown the champion. Can Phil hold off Anna, Dewey, and Schelitzche? So lets get the cars ready for championship day at Falloween. Its going to be a great event. You will not want to miss it.
