First and foremost, thank you to the Brockhouse family for helping keep HobbyFest and the God Father going.
Now what a day. The weather was cool, the sun was in and out of the clouds, the day was far from perfect, but it was perfect for racing. The new owners made some changes to the track and is now a little shorter. Turns 3 & 4 were paved and moved in from where the old, old track was. So we all knew the track was going to be faster. And it sure was.
In qualifying, It was Mark Dewey taking home quick time and the new track record. But it was Tim Anderson in 2nd just 0.001 behind mark. WOW that was close. In 3rd, it was Ashley Bell, followed by Justing Schelitzche, and Phil Malouf in 5th. They all was followed by Anna Malouf, Shawn Grabinger, Brandon Olson, and Jacob Iverson
In heat 1 we had Jacob and Brandon lead the group to the green flag. But it was Anna getting to the front to cross the line first. She was followed by Phil, Shawn, Jacob, and Brandon.
In heat 2, it was Justin and Ashley leading the fast pack to the green flag. Justin took the early lead and making sure he got some distance for the fast charger Mark. It was Justin taking home the win following him was Mark, Ashley, and Tim.
Feature time. It was Shawn and Anna leading the group to the green flag. They battled right away back and forth for the lead for many laps. All drivers did what they could, but the speeds was so close that just could not get going right away. But that never ends. As Anna and Shawn continued to battle, Justin trys to get there, but just could not do it just yet. Anna takes the lead and Justin and Shawn battle itout with Justin taking over 2. Dewey trying to make his way. While Anna goes high in 4 and Justin takes the lead and Anna and Shawn are battling again for 2nd. But coming out of 2, Something happens to Shawn’s car and everyone gets around with no incidents. That moves Dewey to 3rd, Bell to 4th and the battles continue. Phill and Bell battle for 4th. Dewey gets by Anna and starts the chase down the leader. The battles are all over the place still. And Justin pushes hard into turn 1 and Dewey is right there to take advantage on the inside. Drag race down the strait with Justing getting through the corner but it was Dewey at the line taking over the lead. As the battles continue with Phil and Bell as she goes to the outside and she takes over the 3rd position. As we near the finish, the cars are about settled into the positions as they all finish the race it was Dewey with his first ever MidWest Dash Win. It was Justin in 2nd with Ashley Bell in 3rd, Phil Malouf in 4th, and Tim Anderson in 5th. He was followed by Anna, Brandon, Jacob and then Shawn
It was a great night for racing. We are back at it again for an invitational for all Dash style cars that would like to come run at Elko Speedway on Sept 6 in Elko New Market MN. We encourage any and all 4 cyl cars that can meet the basic Safety rules and Hoosiers to come and run with us. There is also a Drift Shootout going on. Lots of activities and lots of action to be had. Will post more about this soon.
